Cars taken in fake badge inquiry
Cars being towed away in central Manchester
A specialist traffic warden has been investigating the fakes
Four cars have been towed away in Manchester city centre as part of a crackdown on fake disabled badges.

Workers at Manchester City Council targeted the vehicles after a monitoring operation.

They were impounded with owners having to pay £100 to get them back. They will also face prosecution and fines of up to £1,000.

For the last few weeks, a specialist traffic warden has been investigating the blue badges believed to be fakes.

Councillor Neil Swannick, of Manchester City Council, said: "We wanted to make an example to show people we are taking this extremely seriously.

"We understand that maybe 100 or more of these badges are being used in the city and deprive disabled people of access to park."
