Observation wheel returns to city
The big wheel
The 60m-high wheel is lit by 60,000 light bulbs
A big wheel that has been compared to the London Eye opens to the public in Manchester on Friday.

Visitors to the 60m (196ft) wheel in Exchange Square will be able to get a bird's eye view of the region.

The 42-carriage wheel, specially built for the city, is next to the Urbis museum and will be operating until Easter time.

The wheel, lit by 60,000 light bulbs, offers views for miles with commentary on the sights in the capsules.

There is one luxury capsule with a plasma screen TV and DVD, leather interior, glass floor, heating and air conditioning.
