Man, 53, trapped in tram incident

A 53-year-old man suffered head and pelvic injuries when he was hit by a tram in Manchester city centre.

The man, from Rochdale, became trapped under the tram on High Street on Friday afternoon. He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary after the incident.

A section of High Street was closed to traffic for a short period of time but has since been reopened.

Greater Manchester Police said that some Metrolink services were still affected by the incident.
