Police 'showered' with missiles
Police in Manchester were bombarded by a man throwing "missiles" at them on Tuesday night.

Officers were called to an address on Greatfield Road in Poundswick, Wythenshawe, Manchester, after receiving reports of a disturbance.

They were confronted by a 36-year-old man wielding a Samurai sword and throwing household objects at police.

The man, who was arrested on Wednesday, ran into a flat and used a blowpipe to blow darts at officers from a balcony.

The man was also armed with a number of knives.

Armed officers were called to assist and police successfully negotiated with the man.

The situation ended peacefully and no-one was injured.
