Firefighter hurt in school blaze
A firefighter has been injured while tackling a blaze at a junior school in Greater Manchester on Monday afternoon.

He was pulled out from the basement of St Anne's Junior School, in Royton, Oldham, suffering from heat exhaustion and slight burns.

About 40 firefighters fought to stop the fire from spreading at the two-floor school.

The blaze was put out on Monday evening and crews were expected to remain at the school overnight, damping down.

Asst divisional officer Tony Hunter, of Greater Manchester Fire Service, said firefighters had braved intense heat.

The injured firefighter is not thought to have been badly hurt.

The fire began at about 1330 BST, Greater Manchester Fire Service said.
