Mother assaulted at country park
A woman was indecently assaulted as she walked through a country park with her two young children.

She was pushing her baby daughter in a pushchair and had her son, aged two, with her when a man grabbed her and threatened her with a penknife.

He tried to pull her backwards before the 29-year-old woman managed to fight him off and escape.

It happened on Saturday evening at the side of the reservoir in Etherow Country Park, in Compstall, Stockport.

The man ran away and people walking on the other side of the reservoir came to the victim's aid.

Children not hurt

She was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for treatment to minor injuries and later discharged.

Her two children were not injured.

Her attacker was white, about 6ft tall, with "piercing blue eyes".

He wore a dark-coloured ski mask, a blue v-neck T-shirt with a motif on the back and black tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
