Man convicted of nightclub rape

Leaver will be sentenced next month

A man has been found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman who he met in a nightclub just two hours before.

Jon Leaver, 23, of Mayfield Street in Atherton, Greater Manchester, attacked the teenager after she left Barbarellas nightclub in Leigh in February.

Liverpool Crown Court heard the pair were caught on CCTV going to a secluded area where he pinned her to a wall, raping her and breaking her jaw twice.

He was remanded in custody until sentencing on 15 September.

Leaver was also found guilty of wounding with intent.

Judge David Boulton adjourned sentencing to allow reports to be prepared.
