Tram is derailed in city centre
A tram has been derailed in Manchester city centre causing rush hour delays for commuters.

The Metrolink tram between Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly Station came off the track at about 0700 GMT on Tuesday.

No-one was injured and Metrolink says all services in and out of Manchester are running as normal.

The tram terminal at Piccadilly Station has been closed and staff are directing passengers to the nearest stop in Piccadilly Gardens.

Metrolink say transport is being provided for people who cannot make the journey between the two stops.

Engineers were on site at 0900 GMT assessing the situation.

An investigation into the incident is continuing.
