Neville gives day's pay to Oxfam
Gary Neville
The PFA hopes other players will follow Neville's example
Manchester United star Gary Neville has supported a campaign for professional footballers to give up a day's wage to help children in Africa.

He has joined an Oxfam campaign to provide schooling for the youngsters and agreed to do without a day's pay.

The charity has joined with the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) to encourage its members to follow the England player's lead.

PFA boss Gordon Taylor said he wanted footballers to set a good example.

He said: "Like it or not, youngsters see footballers as role models - it goes with the territory of being a footballer these days.

"So if they step off track that's an accusation they get.

"If they are on track and doing good then I'm hoping that that similar role model effect will convince and influence a lot of other people when players move in the right direction."
