A family has paid tribute to a father-of-two who died after he fell from the roof at a timber yard.
An investigation is under way after David Carter, 53, of Moorfield Road in Widnes, suffered head and spinal injuries in the incident on Monday.
Police were called to the business at Wood Street, Rochdale and Mr Carter, was taken to hospital, but died later.
Greater Manchester Police and the Health and Safety Executive have started an inquiry.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police told BBC News Online Mr Carter fell about 25ft (7.62m) through a skylight at the premises.
'Prime of life'
Mr Carter leaves behind a wife, a son, a daughter and a granddaughter.
His 25-year-old son Paul said on Tuesday: "My father was a man in the prime of his life.
"He has worked hard all his life for the benefit of his family.
"The whole family are distraught at what has happened.
"We are gathered together and we are attempting to come to terms with our loss."
