Two 16-year-olds have been charged over the stabbing of a teenage boy near his school in Greater Manchester.

The 14-year-old, named locally as Mike Wilson, is stable in intensive care after the incident in Sale on Monday.

He suffered a punctured lung during the stabbing, which happened soon after he left Ashton-on-Mersey School.

One 16-year-old has been charged with wounding. A second has been charged with assisting an offender.

Both youths will appear before Trafford Magistrates on Thursday.
