Man 'shares God's phone number'
Andy Green, who shares
Hello? God speaking...
A man from Greater Manchester has been inundated with phone calls from people mistaking him for God.

Andy Green, of Irlam, Salford, shares the same mobile phone number as the almighty - at least according to a recent Hollywood film.

The movie Bruce Almighty - starring Jim Carrey - features a man who meets God and obtains his private phone number.

Since it was released, Mr Green has received up to 70 phone calls a day from people asking for his help and forgiveness.

The 28-year-old sandwich shop manager said: "I thought it was a bit strange when I got calls from a couple of people last week saying they wanted to speak to God.

Sleep problems

"People have been asking me all sorts of weird questions.

"One guy said he had no money so I told him to get a job."

Filmmakers usually use the non-existent 555 code in movies to prevent flashing someone's real number on screen but, on this occasion, they did not.

Mr Green said he was considering taking legal action against production company Universal, adding: "I have hardly slept."

But Mr Green can at least console himself that he is not the only person suffering as a result of the film.

Dawn Jenkins, a Florida glassmaker, also has the same phone number and has been receiving up to 20 calls an hour.
