The camera was bought from a branch of Argos in Manchester
An investigation has begun after a couple found pornographic pictures on a new digital camera they had bought.
Jackie and Eammon Gall, from Greater Manchester, discovered the explicit shots in the memory of the camera soon after they bought it for £400 at Argos.
Mrs Gall, from Northern Moor, complained to the Manchester branch of the store where they bought it, after the pictures appeared as they downloaded snaps they had taken.
On Friday Argos confirmed they had started an investigation in to how the pictures had got on to the camera.
Mr Gall said he and his wife had bought the camera together, as a birthday present for her.
He told BBC GMR: "When we discovered the pictures, I was trying to get rid of them straight away, because that was my instant reaction.
"Then for whatever reason the pictures then became part of the desktop and filled up the whole screen.
"Then I started to panic, thinking the pictures would perhaps go anywhere else on the computer that they shouldn't."
An Argos spokeswoman said the store had apologised to the couple and given Mrs Gall a new camera.
"We will be looking into how these pictures got on to the camera," she said.
"We will then take any action necessary to tighten up procedures."
