Irene Barrett was found with multiple stab wounds in her ransacked flat in Charlton, south-east London, on 15 May.

Daniel Franklin, 33, of Abbeywood, is charged with murder. Both will appear at the Old Bailey on 25 August.

Mrs Barrett, a retired secretary, had a son, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She had lived alone in the 15th-floor flat for the past 20 years.

A man and a woman, aged 34 and 32, who were arrested on Sunday have been eliminated from the inquiry.
