Woman cyclist dies after bus crash in central London

A woman cyclist has died in a collision involving two buses in the centre of London.

The incident occurred at the corner of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street on Wednesday.

The woman, who police believe was in her 20s, was taken to the Royal London Hospital but died from her injuries. Her family have not yet been informed.

A Transport for London (TfL) statement said: "We are very saddened to hear that a cyclist has died."

One bus driver was also taken to University College Hospital with minor injuries.

TfL said it was the sixth death of a cyclist in the capital this year.

It added: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family and friends at this time.

"We will work with the police and the bus operating company, Metroline, to fully investigate the incident."
