A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of the murder of an 18-year-old woman who died after being stabbed in the neck in east London.

Aliza Mirza was found stabbed in Forest View Road, Manor Park, on Saturday evening and died later in hospital.

The 17-year-old from Ilford has been remanded in custody. He will appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday charged with the murder of Miss Mirza.

A 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder was bailed until mid-April.

On Tuesday, Miss Mirza's father Munir, 50, described his daughter, who lived in Ilford, as a "diamond" and said she had hoped to become a journalist.

Two women, aged 20 and 41, and a 42-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender were also bailed until late April.
