Police identify River Thames drowning victim

Police have identified a man who drowned in the River Thames after an incident in East London on Thursday.

The body of 20-year-old Ibrahim Gharib, who lived locally, was found on Friday in Shadwell Basin near Garnet Street, Wapping.

Police are investigating if he was in a confrontation with a group of people and whether he fell in or was pushed.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed by police until 15 April, detectives said.
