Upgraded Wimbledon Greyhound Track reopens

Greyhounds at Wimbledon
Wimbledon is one of the last spots to watch greyhounds in London

One of London's last remaining greyhound tracks has reopened following a £400,000 redevelopment.

Greyhound racing has found it difficult to attract crowds in recent years, and Walthamstow dog track closed in 2008.

But Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium has now been redeveloped, with a 3,100 seat stand opened and executive boxes removed.

Stadium manager Keith Hallinan said it had lost "none of the charm". There are races every Friday and Saturday.

Mr Hallinan said: "These changes have been implemented to further improve customer experience, the quality of the environment and levels of service.

"The improved stand will have a much more modern feel about it while losing none of the charm of greyhound racing - people are still close to the action."
