Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man killed while chasing handbag-snatchers.

Sukhwinder Singh, 31, was stabbed on 8 January as he pursued two men who had mugged a 28-year-old woman in Barking, east London.

The youths were arrested on Saturday morning and are currently being held in an east London police station.

Three other men arrested during the investigation remain on bail and are due to report back on 13 April.

Mr Singh, an Indian national who had been in the UK for 10 years, died at the Royal London Hospital.

A post-mortem test showed he died from a stab wound to the heart.

Detectives earlier published a CCTV image of the woman's brown leather handbag stolen in the attack in a bid to trace it.
