London Bridge train services disrupted by fire

Map of London Bridge

Train services from London Bridge station were severely disrupted after a fire broke out in a disused railway arch unit in the early hours.

Fifteen people had to leave adjacent flats after the fire started at about 0345 GMT at a railway arch on Debnams Road, Bermondsey, south-east London.

The cause of the fire, tackled by about 50 firefighters, is being investigated.

Southern, Southeastern and First Capital Connect services were all badly disrupted in and out of London Bridge.

The fire, which destroyed part of the ground floor within the arch and about half of the internal mezzanine floor, was put out after 1330 GMT, London Fire Brigade said.

Services on First Capital Connect, Southeastern and Southern trains have returned to normal.
