'Son' held over stabbing of woman, 100, in Whitechapel

A man believed to be the son of a 100-year-old woman found stabbed to death at her home in east London has been arrested by police.

Hannah Fitzgibbon suffered a fatal knife wound to her neck at the property in Whitechapel on Wednesday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman described the death as "a domestic incident".

A 61-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

A post-mortem examination will take place on Thursday afternoon.
