Stabbed boy found by Beckton cinema 'in previous brawl'

Showcase Cinema, Beckton
The teenager was found stabbed outside the cinema on Friday night

A teenager died of a single stab wound to the heart after possibly being involved in an earlier brawl at an east London football ground, police said.

Police said the 17-year-old, who has not yet been identified, may have been at the Powerleague ground where a fight had broken out.

He was found stabbed outside the nearby Showcase Cinema in Beckton on Friday night. He died at the scene.

Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with his death.

Detectives were continuing to question the 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds at separate east London police stations.

A post-mortem examination carried out at East Ham Mortuary revealed the teenager had died of "a single stab wound to the heart", Scotland Yard said.

Officers said they were keeping an open mind as to the motive of the attack.

Witnesses have been urged to contact police.
