The cycle track is on course to be the first London 2012 venue completed for the Olympic Games.
The velodrome, in Stratford, east London, was one of the last venues to go under construction, in March 2009.
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) said work on the track was expected to be complete by early 2011, making it the first site to be finished.
Olympic team sprint cycle champion Jamie Staff visited the venue and said he was "hugely impressed".
Staff, 36, from Ashford, Kent, said: ""It was good to see at first hand how the venue is being designed and built to create a great crowd atmosphere and deliver the best possible conditions for track cyclists.
"I'm sure this will be a perfect venue for Team GB to hit gold in 2012."
He added: "I was hugely impressed by the progress being made."
