Man jailed for stabbing housemate to death

Andrew Wynter
Wynter was jailed for eight years

A man has been jailed for eight years for stabbing his housemate to death in south-east London.

Daniel Myrie, 32, was knifed at their home in Canada Gardens, Lewisham, on 3 December 2008. He died two hours later, the Old Bailey was told.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of Mr Myrie's death as a stab wound to the abdomen.

Andrew Wynter, 37, was found guilty of manslaughter after the court heard he stabbed the victim during a row.

Judge Rook told Wynter: "The lives of his [Mr Myrie's] family will be deeply affected by your actions."

The incident occurred when Wynter was told to leave the family home.

Wynter had been abusive in the past to Pauline Williams, 52, and was asked to leave by her two sons Daniel and his brother Aaron.

In the ensuing row Wynter stabbed Mr Myrie after being hit on the head with a metal shoe rack.
