Man on roof caused road closure

Commuters in east London faced major delays after a busy stretch of road was closed when a man threatened to jump from a roof.

The man had been on top of the roof of a house in Grove Green Road, Leytonstone, since 1430 GMT, when he threatened to jump onto the A12 below.

The eastbound stretch of the A12 was closed between the Lea Interchange and Green Man roundabout.

The man climbed down from the roof at 2300 GMT and was arrested.
