Homes evacuated after pipe burst

About 20 people have been forced to leave their homes after a burst water main flooded a number of properties.

The pipe burst at about 0400 GMT near Goldhawk London Underground station in west London.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said it had caused "severe flooding" and warned motorists to avoid the area as a many roads had been closed.

Thames Water is trying to fix the burst water main which is at the junction of Stamford Brook Road and Goldhawk Road.
