Charges over teenager stab death

Two men have been charged with the murder of a 19-year-old man who was stabbed and then run over in north London.

Michael McCarthy, 19, was killed near his home in Yoakley Road, Stoke Newington on Thursday.

Mustafa Demirtas and Julian Edwards, both 20, and from north London, have been charged with his murder.

The charged men will both appear in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Officers were called to Yoakley Road shortly after 2300 GMT on Thursday where they found Mr McCarthy with stab wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday.
