Teenager 'stabbed and run over'

A 19-year-old man who was killed in an attack as he went to shops in north London, was stabbed and then run over police have said.

Michael McCarthy, 19, was attacked during a row with two men near his home in Yoakley Road, Stoke Newington.

Police want information on a silver or grey Fiat Punto - WN06 BVE - seen leaving the area after the stabbing and found in Welwyn Garden City on Friday.

Two men in their 20s have been arrested in connection with the death.

They are being held at police stations in east London.

Officers were called to Yoakley Road shortly after 2300 GMT on Thursday where they found Mr McCarthy with stab wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the Fiat shortly before the attack or during the time before it was found the next day.
