Three arrested over double murder

Detectives investigating the murders of two men found dead in a flat in south-east London have arrested three people.

Donald MacPherson, 60, and Luciano Schiano, 49, were found dead at their shared flat in Summersell House, west Norwood, on 20 October.

Both men suffered stab wounds and may have been undiscovered for a week.

Police rearrested a 29-year-old man, while a man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested. All three are in police custody.

No forced entry

The body of Mr MacPherson, a chef at the Reform Club in central London's Pall Mall, was found by police after his family became concerned when they could not contact him.

He was originally from Clydebank, in Glasgow, but had lived in London for 13 years and moved to the south London flat 18 months ago for an easier commute to work.

The body of Mr Schiano, who was a Big Issue seller, was found in a separate room in the property.

They had been beaten around the head and neck and stabbed repeatedly.

Post-mortem tests gave cause of death for Mr MacPherson as facial and neck injuries and for Mr Schiano as neck and torso injuries.

Det Insp Gwyn said there was no sign of forced entry at the flat and said police wanted to know if a third person accompanied either man home.
