Women's plea over father's killer

The daughters of a man stabbed to death with his friend have pleaded to the public to help track their killer.

Donald MacPherson, 60, was found murdered with Luciano Schiano, 49, at their shared flat in Summersell House, west Norwood, south London.

The victims were found by officers in their flat on 20 October but they were believed to have been attacked in the early hours of 13 October.

Mr MacPherson's daughter Fiona Scott, said the murder was "a terrible shock".

"If anyone knows anything please help us," the 39-year-old said.

Her sister Manda MacPherson, 38, said her father was an ordinary man who had done the same job for 13 years and liked to spend time with his four children and seven grandchildren.

"There is no secret. He was a creature of habit. He did the same thing day in and day out - you could set your clock by him," she said.

"He was not a gangster, we have got no idea why anyone would target him in this way."

'Stabbed repeatedly'

The body of Mr MacPherson, a chef at the Reform Club in central London's Pall Mall, was found by police after his family became concerned when they could not contact him.

He was originally from Clydebank, in Glasgow, but had lived in London for 13 years and moved to the south London flat 18 months ago for an easier commute to work.

Police appealed for help in piecing together the last hours of two men's lives.

"What we desperately need now is for people to come forward and help fill in the gaps," said Det Insp Graeme Gwyn.

He said the Metropolitan Police wanted to hear from anyone who saw either of the men on 12 October.

The senior officer said Mr Schiano had been to a Tesco store in Brixton before he boarded the 432 bus to go back home on that Monday night.

"What I need to find out is if there was anyone with Luciano before he got on that bus or if anyone saw him on the bus or getting off the bus with anyone," he added.

It was unknown how Mr MacPherson got home that evening.

"We need to hear anyone who may have seen him after 1800 BST when CCTV shows him leaving work that night," said Det Insp Gwyn.

"We know Mr MacPherson was probably still alive not long after midnight on that night, as he read some text messages on his mobile phone," he said.

Both men had been beaten around the head and neck and stabbed repeatedly in a ferocious attack.

Det Insp Gwyn said there was no sign of forced entry at the flat and said police wanted to know if a third person accompanied either man home.
