Bodies undiscovered for 'a week'

The bodies of two men stabbed to death in a south London flat may have lain undiscovered for "up to a week".

Police found Luciano Lomoriello, 49, and his lodger Donald MacPherson, 60, in Summersell House, Bentons Rise, in Lambeth, on the night of 20 October.

Mr MacPherson, a chef, had been stabbed in the face and neck while Mr Lomoriello, a Big Issue seller, suffered wounds to his neck and torso.

A man, 29, arrested in south London on Wednesday, remains in police custody.

Mr MacPherson, who worked at the Reform Club in Pall Mall, central London, was last seen leaving work on 12 or 13 October, police said.

Det Ch Insp Damian Allain said: "The results of the post mortem examinations suggested the men could have been dead for up to a week.

"We urgently need to piece together the men's movements on those days so we can clarify when they were last seen alive. We are keeping an open mind as to the motive at this stage."

The bodies were discovered by Mr MacPherson's daughter.

A Reform Club spokesman said: "We are deeply saddened by the news. Our sympathies go out to our member of staff's family and friends."
