Sixth man charged over £40m raid

A sixth man has been charged with involvement in Britain's biggest jewellery robbery.

Benjamine McFarlane, 21, of Paveley Street, Westminster, is accused of conspiracy to rob Graff jewellers in New Bond Street on 6 August.

He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody to appear at Kingston Crown Court on 23 October.

Five other men have been charged over the £40m raid.

Two men thought to have been wearing facial disguises stole 43 items and fired shots into the ground during the robbery.

Courtney Lawrence, 30, from Ladbroke Grove, west London, and Gregory Jones, 29, from Harrow, north west London, appeared at Kingston Crown Court to face charges of conspiracy to rob.

Jamal Mogg, 42, from Bournemouth; Craig Calderwood, 26, of no fixed address and Solomun Beyene, 24, of Lilestone Street, Westminster, faced the same charge via video link.

Mr Calderwood and Mr Beyene each face a further firearms charge.

All five men are expected to appear alongside Mr McFarlane in court on 23 October.
