Man, 21, shot in head and chest

Police from the Trident unit are investigating the shooting

A 21-year-old man was shot in the head, face and chest by a masked gunman in a south London kebab shop.

The victim, who was at the counter in Delight Kebab, Woodside Green, Croydon, survived the attack, which happened at 2332 BST on Wednesday.

The gunman escaped in a stolen green Mazda MX5 sportscar which had earlier been taken from Penge, south London.

It crashed into a Ford Transit van during the escape. The injured man's condition was not life threatening.

Police said the Ford Transit was later found abandoned in a nearby street.

The victim is in a south London hospital.

Police from the Trident team, which investigates gun crime in the black community, are investigating.
