Man bailed over serious assault

An 18-year-old man arrested over an attack on a man who was stabbed twice in the back and had a noxious liquid thrown over him, has been bailed.

The victim, 24, who suffered serious burns to his face and chest, was attacked by a group in Leytonstone at about 0200 BST on Thursday.

He managed to escape and raise the alarm before an ambulance was called.

The 18-year-old, who was arrested in the Waltham Forest area, is to return to a police station in September.

The victim is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
