CCTV of Mrs Driscoll
Anne Driscoll was stabbed nine times

Detectives hunting a man who stabbed an 82-year-old woman in a seemingly random attack have released CCTV images of the pensioner before he struck.

They show Anne Driscoll in a Tesco shop with a green Marks and Spencer bag she was still holding as she was stabbed.

She is said to be in a stable condition after being stabbed nine times - including in the neck and stomach - in Harlesden, west London, on Monday.

The attacker was white, in his 20s, 6ft tall with brown hair and brown clothes.

'Ring police'

A police spokesman said: "We now know that Mrs Driscoll had been shopping in Harlesden High Street and was seen outside Tesco at approximately 1420 BST.

"CCTV stills released today show her entering the shop. She may then have travelled on a number 18 bus."

He continued: "It is believed she was walking home through Burns Road, Harlesden, shortly before 1500 BST and was attacked there.

"After the assault she staggered to Fortune Gate Road where she was helped by a member of the public."

Mrs Driscoll, who is 5ft 2in with a petite build and grey hair, was wearing brown clothing and a white skirt.

Police are asking anyone who helped the victim to come forward. No arrests have been made.

Det Insp Ian Lott of the Metropolitan Police said: "The investigation is progressing well - however, I still need people to come forward.

"If you believe you have any information or saw the assault take place, I would urge you to ring police."

Witnesses should call 020 8733 3709.
