The son of an African diplomat has pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to stabbing his father to death in a row over his studies. Architecture student Beza Mbeboh, 29, admitted the manslaughter of Kitts Mbeboh, 60, cultural attache at the Cameroon High Commission in London. He stabbed his father through the heart in a row at the family home in Greenford, west London, last August. Mbeboh admitted manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

He was remanded in custody until a further hearing next month to transfer him to a psychiatric unit where he will be assessed before he is sentenced later in the year. The pair had been at odds over the high cost of his study fees at the London School of Architecture, where he had just completed his second year, police said. Det Sgt Eamonn Halliday said: "Relations had been deteriorating over matters concerning Beza's education. There were issues over the costs involved. "As a foreign national, all of this course was paid-for, there were certain tensions around that." Police described the stabbing as a "terrible aberration". Mr Halliday said: "The father was a Christian man with high values. All the children are well-educated and well brought-up."
