Comedians Jo Brand, Ardal O'Hanlon and Mark Watson will headline a new comedy festival in south-east London.

The week-long festival will feature 30 shows inside a 1,000-seat tent at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and at the nearby Greenwich Theatre.

Comic Arthur Smith said: "As a former Greenwich man I am thrilled to be part of the festival."

Beginning on 7 September, the festival will also mark the 20th anniversary of south London comedy club Up The Creek.

Comics Mark Thomas, Russell Howard, Rich Hall and Rob Newman and punk poet John Cooper Clarke, will also appear in the Greenwich Comedy Festival.

Jo Brand, who lives in south London, said she was "very proud" to be taking part.
