Man jailed for love rival murder

Crime scene
Ma became angry when Mr Zheng came to the hospital

A man has been jailed for life for slashing the throat of a man he believed to be his love rival.

Wei Ma, 36, attacked Zhong Ping Zheng, 36, in April 2008, in the car park of Whipps Cross Hospital, east London, and cut his throat three times.

He pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to murder and has been told he would have to serve a minimum of 11 years in jail.

Ma had taken his girlfriend Ting Yu to hospital and became angry when Mr Zheng came to pick her up, the court heard.

Judge Richard Hawkins told Ma: "You did this because you were jealous of him, thinking he was a rival for the affections of Miss Ting Yu."
