Murder charge over Defoe killing

Jermain Defoe did not play for Spurs the day after his brother's death

A man has been charged with the murder of Jade Defoe, brother of Tottenham Hotspur footballer Jermain Defoe.

Jade, 26, suffered serious head injuries in an attack in Leytonstone, east London, on Friday.

Jermain Defoe was withdrawn from the Tottenham Hotspur side that lost 5-2 to Manchester United on Saturday.

Christopher Farley, 33, from Leytonstone, will appear at Redbridge Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with murder.

Jade was attacked at about 1700 BST in Walnut Gardens, near the junction with High Road.
