Three people have appeared in court charged with robbery after an incident in which a police officer received life-threatening injuries.

The firearms officer, aged 30, suffered serious head injuries after confronting the suspects in Newham, east London.

Mansour-Jacques Jallow, 26, Temitope Iyiola, 19, and Mary Fowler, 21, appeared at Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court on Monday.

They have been remanded in custody and are due in court on Thursday.

Mr Jallow and Mr Iyiola, both of no fixed address, and Ms Fowler, of Ibex House, Forest Lane, east London, all face charges of robbery.

Officers were called to reports of an aggravated burglary at an address in Rosedale Road, Dagenham, early on Saturday morning.

Shortly after, at about 0600 BST, armed officers attempted to stop a vehicle in Stratford, east London.

The car was then chased to Ashlin Road, in Newham, where the police officer was injured after getting out of the vehicle.

Police are still investigating how the police officer's injuries were sustained.
