M25 reopens after lorry collision

M25 motorway

Morning commuters on the M25 faced long queues after an accident closed the motorway in both directions.

Two lorries collided between junctions 24 and 25 at 0200 GMT, one overturning in the central reservation, shedding its load and hitting several lampposts.

The road clockwise between junctions 23 and 25, and anticlockwise between junctions 27 and 24 has reopened.

The closure led to earlier tailbacks that stretched for seven miles both clockwise and anti-clockwise.

A Highways Agency spokesman said no-one was hurt in the incident.
