Police have identified the 83-year-old woman found with her legs wrapped in duct tape at her north London home.

Eveline Kelmenson, known to family and friends as Lina, was found dead in her three-storey home in Leweston Place, Stamford Hill, on New Year's Day.

A neighbour said the woman, who lived alone, told her a few weeks earlier that she was being pursued for cash.

Police said they were keeping an open mind as regards the motive but are treating the death as suspicious.

Police are investigating if there was a break-in.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "We need to establish Lina's last movements. I am appealing for anyone who saw Lina after November 24th to please come forward.

"I am also appealing to anyone who has information relating to Lina or indeed the circumstances surrounding her death to please come forward to police with information."

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday.
