Fire crews tackle blaze in flats

More than 50 firefighters tackled a huge blaze which destroyed the top floor of a four-storey block of flats in east London.

No-one was injured in the fire, which broke out at 0900 GMT in the flats in Kingsland Road, Hoxton.

Crews used 10 appliances to fight the fire for over three hours.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said three flats were "100% alight" and a roll-call of the 30 residents in the block found that no-one was missing.

The cause of the blaze - which spread rapidly through the flats - was being investigated, the spokesperson added.
