Flat stabbing attack man jailed

A man who left another man with serious stab wounds at a flat in south London after having sex with him, has been jailed for at least 17 years.

Ahsan Mahmudd, 22, of Enfield, north London, went to Adrian Poleglase's flat in Streatham, in March after answering a web advert, the Old Bailey heard.

Mahmudd tied up Mr Poleglase, 44, originally from Cornwall, stabbed and robbed him and set fire to his sofa.

He was convicted of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

Threatening texts

Mr Poleglase was rescued by firefighters and spent three weeks fighting for his life in intensive care after one of the stab wounds punctured his liver.

During his stay in hospital, Mahmudd sent him threatening text messages to stop him from telling what happened.

"I am satisfied that your attack as it developed was in furtherance of robbery, whatever your original intention may have been when you first went to his flat," said Judge Martin Stephens.

"You left him to die. You have shown no sign of remorse. You pose a significant risk to members of the public of serious harm."

Psychiatric reports showed that Mahmudd was in need of "intensive psycho-sexual intervention" as well as "considerable anger management", the court heard.
