Men in court over football death

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering an amateur footballer who died after a post-match fight.

Stephen Ritchie, 43, from Brentford, west London, died of head injuries after the west London fight on Sunday.

Darren Forwood, 20, from West Drayton, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court charged with murder.

Brandon Thompson, from Hillingdon, was charged with causing actual bodily harm. They were remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 10 March.

Mr Ritchie, who played for Old Greenfordians, was pronounced dead at Little Harlington Playing Fields on Sunday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a head injury.
