Men deny French student murders

Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo
The bodies of the two students were found at a bedsit in New Cross

Two men have denied murdering two French students who were found dead in a burning bedsit in London.

Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo, both 23, were found bound and gagged with multiple stab wounds in the New Cross bedsit on 29 June.

Nigel Edwards Farmer, 33, of no fixed address, and Danno Sonnex, 23, from Peckham, south London, denied murder, arson, burglary and false imprisonment.

They were remanded in custody by an Old Bailey court until 21 April next year.

They entered their pleas by video link.

Mr Farmer and Mr Sonnex also deny charges of trying to pervert the course of justice.

They are alleged to have stolen a bank card, a credit card, games consoles and mobile phones.

The badly-burned bodies of the two students were found after an explosion at the bedsit.

Mr Bonomo had been stabbed nearly 200 times, while Mr Ferez had nearly 50 knife wounds.
