Woman is charged over dog attack

A woman has been charged after a one-year-old baby boy was attacked by a dog in south London.

Three other people were also attacked in South Lodge Avenue in Mitcham on 8 October - police shot the dog dead.

Clare Vernour, 29, of Mitcham has been charged with being in possession of a fighting dog and allowing a dog out of control to cause injury.

The baby, Amir Santos, was taken to hospital with a bite on his leg and went home the next day.

Ms Vernour will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on 9 December.
