New high street recycling

Recycling bins may be placed at some of the London's busiest spots to collect the hundreds of plastic food and drink containers being thrown away.

The London Assembly has begun an investigation to see whether an "on-the-go" recycling scheme could work.

One idea is to increase the number of plastic recycling bins in public areas such as shopping centres, train stations and entertainment venues.

The investigation will also seek the opinions of Londoners.
