Man charged with murdering wife

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife at their north London home.

Police found the body of Katherine Ellerbeck, 46, of Canford Close, Enfield, at the address on Friday.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died as a result of asphyxiation and manual compression of the neck.

Neil Ellerbeck, 45, also of Canford Close, was arrested at the scene. He was remanded in custody at a hearing at Enfield Magistrates' Court.

He will appear for a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey on 23 February.
