Man facing trial for child rape

A man has been committed for trial charged with raping a three-year old girl in London.

The man, in his 30s, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused or assaulting the child between 1 February and 3 August 2007.

A woman in her 20s is accused of cruelty to a child in a manner which caused her unnecessary suffering or injury to health.

The two will stand trial at the Old Bailey on 15 April 2009.
